In 1990 Alessandro Bonetti obtained a diploma in violin from the Conservatorio G. B. Martini in Bologna and by 1991 he was already playing as the soloist violinist in the opera "Pollicino" by H. W. Henze at Teatro Comunale of Bologna.
1992 saw him become a member of the Quartet "Spazio 900- Nuove Sincronie", playing mainly contemporary music and 1900's instrumentals. With this Quartet he recorded various pieces by L. De Pablo, S. Pelagatti and G. Taglietti for the Ricordi, Stradivarius and Nuove Sincronie record companies .
Following in the steps of his success with the at Teatro Comunale of Bologna in 1990, he started to collaborate with the theater's orchestra, that saw him play in all the lyric and synphonic seasons.
With the Ensemble Musica nel Buio he performed at numerous film festivals and in 2000 he recorded an original soundtrack by the composer M Dalpane, for "Die berkatze", a film by E. Lubitch made for the German TV company ZDF, from which they obtained enthusiastic critical reviews internationally.
In the year 2000 Bonetti played for Playground, an ensemble performing the music of the violinist-composer Eyvind Kang, during two concerts at Teatro Manzoni in Bologna, which was recorded on the cd "Virginal Coordinates", the highly-applauded album both in Italy and abroad.
Bonetti performs in various musical genres and since 1990 he is also the violinist of Deus ex Machina, a formation with whom he tours frequently in Europe and the USA, having recorded seven albums so far, for Kaliphonia and Cuneiform record labels.
Since 2003 Bonetti has played on a regular basis for Premiata Forneria Marconi (PFM), a popular group that tours frequently in various parts of Italy (Teatro C. Felice in Genova, the Arena of Verona, the Arena of Porto Recanati, Teatro Rossini in Pesaro, Teatro Counale in Varese, to name but a few) and abroad, with two successful tours of Mexico in both 2003 and 2007.
